What are you going to do when the SHTF?  Are you ready for TEOTWAWKI?  Do you know what these acronyms mean?  If not Google it.  You'll be stunned at the number of paranoid, delusional, obsessive, para-military, gun-nut, survivalist freaks out there who not only think the government is out to get them, but when it all goes down they'll be the ones who survive.  Mind you I do have a soft spot for these lunatics and given the current state of the world who knows what disaster is going to strike tomorrow, from tsunamis to RPG's, hurricanes to 9/11's, 7/7's, IED's, WMD's, coups, revoultions, famines and plagues, you have to be ready...  There is actually some useful information written by these psychos about water purification, long term storage of food, water and petrol, and simple things like starting a fire with no matches and telling direction without a compass that may come in handy if you ever go camping or get lost on a hike.  However there's also some really disturbing information about how many guns and hand-greanades you'll need to defend yourself while you're hunkered in your bunker hiding from government spy-planes.  Personally I believe that the world oil supply could easily run-out in our lifetime (see Peak Oil - below) and when it does, the chaos the world will be plunged into will be unfathomable, and if you're not prepared to live without supermarkets or transport, you're fucked.  Mind you my girlfriend made a good point when I was showing her some of these whack-job websites, she said "I'd rather be dead than survive with those freaks"!  As much as I'd like to think I could tough it out and survive to spawn the post-apocalyptic generation John Connor style, I think I'd have to agree with her.
